Lazarus gives error in suse 11.3

Lazarus (Free pascal)
I ve reinstalled (Packman repos…) and this seems OK on suse 11.3 but when I click
Show - units or Show - Forms I get an Acces Violation error. (and cannot open the form)
This happens on Suse 11.3 on both my PC as on my laptop
On the laptop both on Gnome and KDE.
On suse 11.1 Lazarus works fine on both PC and laptop

Also on MyApplication (written in Lazarus) I get an error on suse 11.3 while not on 11.1
(on the laptop I did a clean 11.3 install to make sure no old 11.1 settings were still active)

For this reason I downgraded my laptop back to 11.1 to keep my business application to be usefull.
I don’t think the problem is with Lazarus for it is the same version number.
Is this a known bug or has someone a working Lazarus 09.28.2 on suse 11.3?

You mean menu view, entry units or forms?

I have “lazarus-0.9.28.2-3.pm.6.2.x86_64” in oS 11.2 and it doesn’t crash.
I haven’t really used the IDE in 11.2, but it seems to work on this quick test.

I tried a build of a project of mine, and after changing the target from
the previous 32 bit to the 64 in this machine, it worked fine.

But as I say, I use 11.2.

I believe there is another packaged version at the lazarus site. You could
try to see if that one works.

Wild idea: disable the translation, and test again.

Google for lazarus and 11.3, to see if more people report errors. Or ask at
the programming forum here, or the mail list.

I have a very similar error. After a fresh install of 11.3 (32-bit version), Lazarus from pacman installed with Yast, if you click on Project- Project Options or Project - Compiler Options or Environment - Options - then try to change something, I get an Access Violation error.

And you are not using the translation?

Then you both should report the problem to either packman or upstream. Or both.

No translations, And applications compiled on the same computer when it was openSuse 11.0 get the same error when you attemp to launch them if they are using a non-included package.

From what I’ve found on-line, it looks like its a dependency issue with Qt/Gtk+ and/or missing libraries so a recompile of existing apps should fix them. Supposedly it’s resolved in 0.9.29.x but I’ve not found a rpm of that that will install yet.

Just real glad that I only updated one of my two computers here at work.

Hello,
I know it’s been weaks since you talked about this topic, but i’m very new to OpenSuse, It’s my first time here, and I have the same problem with Lazarus, with the same OpenSuse 11.3.
Is there any way to fix this ?

I got this reply on another forum

Lazarus 9.28.2 gives Acces Violation in Suse 11.3

however I downgraded 11.3 back to 11.1 on both computers because of this and another login-problem with 11.3.

I hope this problem will no occur in 11.4

They don’t explain the reason. They simply get the svn sources (ie, not
released, can change from day to day and break some other thing), and
compile them.

Well, the thing is for somebody to test it and report.
