Hello,
I am running opensuse 11. I have laser mouse (Genius NetScroll 200 Laser) with a cursor jumping all the time although I use an appropriate mouse pad. Is there any special driver or something for laser models or should I just tweak some settings?
Thanks.
I was hoping someone else would chime in here and help, as my mouse has always “just worked”. But since NO one else has replied, let me recommend you try adjusting this. Check to see if there is a better mouse driver under > YaST > Hardware > Mouse Model
Note you may need to exit X and re-enter for that to have positive (or negative) affect.

{chime!}
Oh… guess you want me to write something too… ok…
I have had issues with my mouse ‘jumping’ about an inch or so UP the screen
while using it. This is known problem with some of the Logitech laser mice,
and it might also apply to the Genius mice too…
Specifically, it was related to the surface you’re using to mouse on.
Generally, anything shiny and dark caused it. Shiny as in any decent
tabletop, and dark as in … uh… well, typical table/desktop colors.
I bought a very nice light tan mousepad (it’s like moleskin really) for a few
dollars and it’s been great ever since. Of course, lately, it has a cat
sitting on it, so I’m forced to mouse on the cat, which isn’t real effective,
and just plain sounds weird. (kitty likes the attention though!)
Basically, anything not real reflective and shiny, and not really dark. Even
a piece of paper (copier / printer type) was usable if I taped it down.
Hope this helps.
