laptop mode tools error

Hi guys, I’m having this issue with laptop-mode-tools on 13.2 (gnome)

/usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/cpufreq: line 11: echo: write error: Invalid argument SETTING OF KERNEL PARAMETER FAILED: echo ondemand \> /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor /usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/cpufreq: line 11: echo: write error: Invalid argument SETTING OF KERNEL PARAMETER FAILED: echo ondemand \> /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor /usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/cpufreq: line 11: echo: write error: Invalid argument SETTING OF KERNEL PARAMETER FAILED: echo ondemand \> /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_governor /usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/cpufreq: line 11: echo: write error: Invalid argument SETTING OF KERNEL PARAMETER FAILED: echo ondemand \> /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_governor /usr/share/laptop-mode-tools/modules/laptop-mode: line 326: : : integer expression expected

Thanks

Hi
So does the ondemand governor exist?

cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_governors

What command are you using to set this?

# cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_governors performance powersave

What command are you using to set this?
laptop_mode status or laptop_mode start

Hi
Is it an intel CPU? If so AFAIK, you can only use either powersave or performance. I would guess there is some sort of configuration in the YaST sysconfig editor. I just use cpupower from the command line and never install laptop-mode-tools.

Hi
Also worth a read…
https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/Base:System/laptop-mode-tools/README.SUSE?expand=1

Intel i7, yes. It’s a vaio pro 13. So It’s a sort of error I should live with? Thank you

Hi
Did you see the README? Looks like you would need to configure the settings for powersave rather than ondemand.

What sort of graphics card? If it’s intel, there are some power features you can enable on the i915 kernel module.

I red It but I can’t find any reference to ondemand or to powersave. Even looking at /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf I can’t find It. The video card is Intel 4400 HD.

Even looking at /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf I can’t find It. The

Hi
I would leave things as they are (leave at powersave), then have a read
of this;
https://sysrich.co.uk/?p=190
Whilst 12.3 centric it’s still applicable for the current release. The
only thing is the module parameters are different for the latest kernels
i915.i915_enable_x is now i915_enable_x.
