I just updated Tumbleweed (20250512). Now, Kwallet wants my password after login. I doesn’t changed anything else.
There are several errors in the syslog with d-bus plasma-kwallet-pam.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'. qt.dbus.integration: QDBusConnection: name 'org.kde.secretservicecompat' had owner '' but we thought it was ':1.33'
This issue is still unresolved, by the way. I worked around it by just disabling fingerprint reading all together in PAM, however, after the last update on TW I too have noticed that KWallet is again not unlocked automatically after login. It was working fine after disabling fingerprint. So, that seems to be a regression in the most recent update.
It came from Frameworks 6.14.0 upstream.
At least most of it did. You could have other problems but this is generating bug reports for every app and distro that it affects.
Kwallet is opening before it has a display or it thinks it doesn’t have one. I read the early reports so there’s probably more info now.
The same thing happened to me just now after applying the latest update to Tumbleweed. I was able to log in with my usual user account without issue, however.
And on reboot, it keeps happening. Worse, it appears to have logged me out of ALL of my signed in accounts at Google, at start.me, etc., so I have to log in over and over on every reboot.
This is a major PITA. In addition, the update appears to have borked the XDG portal system, because all the browsers not default to the GTk file picker instead of the KDE file picker. More on that elsewhere in this forum.
