Kontact

When my Kontact in openSUSE 11.4. KDE starts, this notice appears:" Migration to Notes failed." How I can repair it? Thank you.

i wonder if you fully realize that openSUSE 11.4 M5 and earlier is
not released for general use software, it is *testing software’…

folks using it should be experienced enough in Linux (in general) and
openSUSE (in particular) to recognize if they have a user induced
setup problem or an actual bug, and either correct their problem OR
log the bug…

the purpose of offering next version milestones and release candidates
is to find and repair bugs…therefore, if you are sure your setup
is correct and you have found a bug please visit and report it to
http://en.opensuse.org/Submitting_Bug_Reports

and i assume you know not to try to run milestone software as your
daily use system with all your good stuff on the hard drive at risk of
being wiped out by a bug…

if you are indeed a qualified software tester i’d guess instead of
asking how to fix your problem you would be asking if anyone else has
seen this new problem…

What if there were no hypothetical questions?

Thank you for your answer. I really do not know, whether or not I am a tester. I do not know, where is the limit between a tester and normal user. I do not know, how to learn about linux generally then to ask. And normal answer should be a such, yes, correct it in this way or we know about it or thank for your question, we will solve it. I wish you a nice day…

That message suggests to me that you are using a beta version of Kontact
4.6. This was included in 11.4 M5 but had so many problems that it is no
longer being included in KDE 4.6. It may be included later in KDE 4.6.1.

What you do now is up to you. If you want a reliable system you should not
be using openSUSE 11.4 until after the official release date, currently
scheduled for March 10th. Instead, you should install 11.3.

However, if you are confident about continuing to use an unstable
development system and have no data that you are worried about losing, you
could add the following repository and switch to it. Updating from that
would uninstall Kontact 4.6 and replace it with 4.4.9.

I am no expert, merely a tinkerer, so I accept no responsibility for any
accidents that you may incur from following my advice.

If you’re running 11.4, you’re running beta, so that means you’re a
“tester”, whether you realise it or not.

If you want to work with a stable release, we’d suggest using 11.3
instead as that’s the current stable release.
