I’m trying to set up a printer (Konica Minolta Bizhup C220) but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to. I have downloaded the driver from the Konica Minolta website but that is about how far I have gotten. Trying to use the printer configuration option in Yast has not been very helpful. The printer is shared on a Windows server.
Is there a readme file in the downloaded driver from minolta?
One thing you can do is unpack or unzip your download and have a look at it.
Look for a ppd file in a language that you use. When you see the ppd file
Go to yast2 and add a printer, there is a button in yast2 printer where you can add that ppd file
by browesing to the unpacked download ppd file and installing it into your machine.
If you are successfull adding that ppd file you can now configure your new printer.
Well, I think I’m doing it correctly but the drivers don’t seem to be accepted. Or at least I can’t see them in the list after I to “Driver Packages” > “Make a Printer Description File Available” and navigate to the .ppd location. It sort of works (at least it will print) if I set it up directly on the printer IP as LPD and not through the windows share. I’m also unsure on which driver I’m actually using, it recommended some “Minolta QMS PagePro 9100N Foomatic/Postscript [OpenPrintingPPDs/postscript/Minolta…]” ppd file. At least it prints (A4, duplex, fixed dpi) but I can’t toggle between color and black&white.
I can see the downloaded drivers in
/usr/share/cups/model/downloaded]

I know this is an old question but this may help you or a new user.
Here is how I configured Konica Minolta bizhub C368.
[ul]
[li] Install lsb [/li]```
sudo zypper in lsb
[li] Download driver from http://www.konicaminolta.eu/en/business-solutions/products/office/multifunctional-printers/colour/bizhub-c368/downloads.html [/li][li] unzip (can be decompressed to /tmp) [/li][li] Yast > Printing > Add New Printer Configuration > Connection Wizard [/li][li] Access Network Printer or Printserver Box via > TCP Port[/li]
[li] Enter IP Address and TCP port (I leaved the default 9100) [/li][li] Type “KONICA MINOLTA” in manufacturer. [/li][li] OK [/li][/ul]
[li] Find and Assign a Driver > Driver Packages[/li][ul]
[li] Make a printer description file available > Browse [/li][li] Look up KOC368UX.ppd in the directory where the driver was unzipped. [/li][li] OK [/li][/ul]
[li]After this step my connection was deleted but the driver was installed. I checked that on Find and Assign Driver > Search for “C368”[/li][ul]
[li]Also [/li]```
ls /usr/share/cups/model/downloaded/
KOC368opn.ppd KOC368UX.ppd
[/ul]
[ul]
[li] So I added the connection again using the connection wizard as explained above. [/li][li] Find and Assign Driver > Search for “C368”[/li]
[li] Select KOC368UX.ppd [/li][li] OK [/li][/ul]
