kmail read-only attachments

Is there a setting to make the default in Kmail to save the attachments (or
when dragging them into a folder) so they are NOT set to read-only?

Many thanks

Correction: I think this is when dragging to folders only…

I have never had kmail do this to me; so it may be nothing to do with kmail; it may be that the default on your system is to make newly created files read only.

Thanks for the reply, but I do not think so. Otherwise ALL my files would be
read-only and they are not. Just to make sure I checked making a txt file
and it is not read-only.

Just try dragging an email attachment to the desktop. Does it become read-
only? If not, I would be interested in knowing because this happens in the 3
machines I run with opensuse 11.2.
I just realised that saving the attachment preserves the original flags,
but not when dragging the attachment from kmail into a folder.

Thanks for any further info.

Yes, dragging an email attachment to the desktop, or to any folder, does make it read only. I’ve never thought of doing this as it is so much more difficult than using the ‘Save attachments’ option which doesn’t do this.
