I am trying to configure Tumbleweed on an Asus TUF Gaming A15 FA507NV. I found that I could use the built in keyboard to launch the installer, but once the GUI launched the keyboard became completely unresponsive. I used an external keyboard to complete the install, hoping that the issue would resolve after installation or that I could find a fix, however that has not been the case. The built in keyboard works in grub, but after booting up some of the function keys work but the regular alphanumeric keys do not
Web search finds a few similar cases which seem to conclude that there is an issue with this line of ASUS laptops and recent kernel versions. There is also this thread from last month:
Is there anything I can do with my installation or boot configuration that would fix this issue? Am I stuck waiting for a kernel update?
Did it work with earlier kernels? Try booting Live Leap 15.4 and 15.5.
If it works with the latest kernel, just wait until Tumbleweed is updated to have this kernel (you can use the above repository until then).
If it worked with earlier kernels, it is regression and you should submit openSUSE bug report.
Otherwise someone hast to provide patch for upstream kernel. The description in linked topic could be a starting point, but it is no patch but just vague description which is not suitable for submitting to kernel.
