keyboard not working at the grub menu, hence the ability to multiboot is lost at system start
keyboard works in bios, kwin, terminal and gui
has anyone else noticed this?
the other os’s can be pre-selected via yast
os:-
Kernel: 4.18.11-1.g4a5c1c1-default x86_64 bits: 64
Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.13.5
Distro: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20180928
the same occurs with Kernel 4.18.5-1.4 and Kernel 4.18.9-1.3
As far as I know, grub is just using the BIOS/Firmware to access the keyboard.
Is this at all similar to Bug 1101747 ?
no, Bugzilla – Bug 1101747 talks about grub-efi, and no cursor after entering the edit mode
this PC is not EUFI
the keyboard has no effect at the grub menu
any key press is ignored
Have you checked your BIOS setup? Assuming USB, perhaps Legacy USB support needs to be enabled?
Is this something that only began on updating to 20180928?
changing “Legacy USB Support” in the BIOS
from BIOS only
to Enabled
corrected the issue
thank you and to all who contributed
Glad to have been of assistance.
