So what difference would that bug have made to the previous kernel update on 12.3?

Original kernel 3.7.10-1.1 being updated to 3.7.10-1.4 would have resulted in 2 kernels remaining with/without the bug
i.e. “running” = 3.7.10-1.1 = “latest-1”, and “latest” = 3.7.10-1.4, so nothing would have been removed anyway.
Therefore one would still come to the recent update (3.7.10-1.11) with two kernels (assuming no manual removal).
