kdewallet password and wlan at bootup

Hi all,
I have recently started using opensuse 11.2. My WLAN is working fine thankfully after a bit of struggle but now when I am not root, I have to key in a password in kdewallet from knetworkmanager to connect to wlan. I deleted the wallet file but then again I was asked to enter a password (a new one this time) I don’t want to do that. I want my wlan to connect directly when I bootup. something similar to windows. Is that possible?
any advices?

Regards
Humayun

I’m not sure exactly how kde works, but I know with GNOME my network connects automatically without having to ask for a password every time. It saved it the first time I entered it and never has to ask again.

Hi rod,
This is not wlan password I am talking about. That one is saved. Its kdewallet password (different from wlan password) that I am referring to. This one is asked whenever bootup again. After giving correct password for kdewallet, still I have to click on the wlan and connect it with a click. I want it to be automated.

You enabled kwallet when it asked you the first time. kWallet stores passwords/phrases for you with encryption of the password/phrase, providing access and security by requiring a master password itself.
To stop this behaviour, you need to configure the Networkmanager to store passwords/phrases unencrypted in the configuration file. To disable kwallet:
Systemsettings - Account details - Wallet, uncheck the option to use KDE’s wallet system. Mind, you have to enter the passwords/phrases stored in the wallet now, at least once after disabling kwallet. That stores them in the config file.

If you only store the wireless password, then create the wallet with NO
password. That is what I do. At least this way, the wireless key is stored
encrypted, not in clear text as it is in the config files.

thanks Knurpht
that solved it. Although I have another issue with wlan but I will start that as a different post.
Thanks again.
