There was a post 2 years ago dealing with KDE Plasma and, Wayland and, the issue of remapping mouse buttons and, especially the case of a mouse with more than three buttons such as the Logitech M500 series – the solution at that point in time was not really workable, despite deano_ferrari mentioning the current solution – maybe the KDE Plasma Help Text has been improved and also the local language translation – and, the initial implementation has been corrected.
- The KDE Plasma 6 System Settings currently supports remapping Mouse Buttons with Wayland.
→ Without the need to use anything similar to the KDE Plasma 5 X11 method with the ‘$HOME/.xbindkeysrc’ file …
On this system, the additional mouse buttons are behaving as expected → “Page Down” and “Page Up” …
AFAICS, if “Wayland” then, remove the “xev” RPM package and, (optionally) install the “wev” RPM package.

I have absolutely no idea if, the KDE Plasma version currently shipping with Leap is behaving correctly with respect to Wayland and this Mouse feature.
