So i just want to give OpenSUSE a try.
after a fresh installation, my biggest problem is:
when i open any applications, i cant see them.
i can see in the overview graphics for the workspaces, that the applications are open. i can see them in the task bar too and get a small graphic of it when i go with my mouse over it.
but the desktop only shows the wallpaper.
the windows are opening. but it is like KDE is thinking my Screen is as double as wide at it is and opens all Applications on the left out of my screen. When i maximize the windows i can see in the overwie graphic of the workspaces that they get maximized… but only in the left half. i cant see nothing of it.
You mean you don’t see the taskmanager, i.e. representation of opened windows on the bottom panel?
Right click in the panel, Unlock widgets, Add widget, Taskmanager. You should see windows-alike blocks on the panel representing the opened application windows.
The problem seem to be (as I read it ) the OP had a change in resolution and the programs are opening outside of their view. If so, need to get info on the video and video drivers. Or a better description of the problem.
Of course it is speculative until the OP provides more definitive information about their graphics hardware and display device. For example, it may well be an ‘overscan’ issue due to the use of a TV/monitor set in the wrong mode, as this new user discovered:
