Issues with openSUSE-Leap-15.5-GNOME-Live-x86_64-Build13.15

Hi, I am totally new to openSUSE and wanted to try it and so I downloaded this openSUSE-Leap-15.5-GNOME-Live-x86_64-Build13.15 version and ran it on a Dell Latitude 5590.

I found the following issues:

  • Sound control does not work
  • Brightness control does not work
  • CPU usage is very up and down but often reaches the max of 100%

I did not know what the credentials were for login to the live version so I searched for this and entered root for username, left password blank and then ran startx.

Maybe I should have done this differently?

Should wayland be running?

Not to complain, but just to compare by pointing this out, I ran live versions of Debian and Fedora and they do not have these issues. So I dont think these are hardware issues.

Any help is much appreciated.

Leap 15.5 is EOL since Dec 2024. Don’t use it.

As for the live medias:

Please be aware of the following limitations of the live images:

  • They should not be used to install or upgrade. Please use the installation media instead
  • They have a limited package and driver selection, so cannot be considered an accurate reflection as to whether the distribution will work on your hardware or not
  • Kernel and initrd can’t be updated, so they shouldn’t be used as a persistent installation

@hui - Thanks very much for your quick and helpful response - I will install the latest version to evaluate openSUSE.

@Susitout It should just auto login the default user, which is linux and no password.
