Am looking for a new motherboard for a friend. Most all the MBs I see seem to only support an Windows 11 driver for Bluetooth/WiFi. My Gigabyte Master Board has a qualcom chipset and I have no problems with WiFi 7. It would seem that the Intel “killer” chip set is also supported. But with ASrock Nova and I think the MSI Tomahawk boards just list this spec: “- 802.11be 2x2 Wi-Fi 7 Module.” Is this an Intel chipset? No specific chipset is listed. It does say Windows 11 supported. I can’t tell. I know another friend that was disappointed when the ASUS Strix board (MediaTek) he ordered had the WIN11 spec only. What other chipset besides RealTek works best with Linux?
I your are looking for a combo Bluetooth/WiFi better reconsider that and go for separate Bluetooth and WiFi modules as combo modules almost never work under Linux. For Bluetooth I would go for a BT-USB dongle, Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) is good supported.
If you want a better supported MB, try to go for something that is popular and already longer on the market, almost sure it is supported under Linux.
Which board, MAG X870/X670E/570S/B570…?
thanks. didn’t know that.
