Is there the possibilty for a complete update?

Hello,
I try to update the new 13.1, but I get via yast only a list of very much positions of patches or programs. I do not know, was was it is and what there necessary.

Is there no posiibilty only to say: update all!

If you only use the normal opensuse repos, then Yast Online Update should be sufficient. Normal updates are handled as patches.

If you have other repos (such as packman) configure, then use

# zypper up

as root at the command line (or in a terminal GUI session). It will tell you what it wants to update, then give you a chance to quit without changing anything.

Just start yast, then select “online update”. By default it will
automatically select everything you should update, so just hit enter or
accept.

Other ways to achieve the same:

  • use your desktop’s updater (Apper for KDE)
  • run “pkcon update” (this can be run as user with the default settings)
  • enter YaST->Software Management, go to “View”->“Repositories”, select the “@System” repo (should be selected by default anyway), right-click on the package list and choose “All in this list”->“Update, if a newer version is available” (or choose the same option from the “Package” menu).

Hello,
I found the recommended positions in the yast menue, I’ll try it, but later.
Now I’m fighting for the network connection to the internet.
What I do seems to be wrong.

Well, an internet connection is mandatory for installing online updates of course.
Your desktop would probably notify you about the available updates automatically then anyway.

What are you doing exactly, that “seems to be wrong”?
How are you actually connecting to the Internet? (wired/wireless?)
What network card do you have?

Try to switch to NetworkManager in YaST and use the desktop’s network icon to configure your connection. With wired ethernet no configuration should be necessary at all though in most cases.

And probably better create a new thread about this problem in the appropriate subforum with more detailed information, if you need further help.

I did manage

  • the network configuration, there is to find a network device, I think from my HP 8540w
  • DSL configuration, there have I inserted the DSL provider (1und1), but the field dsl-devise is empty. And I’ve got the message smppd has to be installed.

And probably better create a new thread about this problem in the appropriate subforum with more detailed information, if you need further help.

Yes, I’ll do so.
