Is there anything to be done about file transfer retries at install time?

openSUSE Tumbleweed arm64

Just curious if there’s anything that can be done about the constant file timeouts that take FOREVER to prompt you if you want to retry. And then pressing retry works perfectly and the progress resumes until it hangs on one random stupid package again and the process repeats.

Like it’s clear as day that the Remaining Packages count freezes and stops decreasing, then it times out and waits for like 10 MINUTES before reporting Input Output error and asks to retry, and the retry always works immediately.

Like is there any way to expedite the timeout period once it’s identified as stalled or anything? There’s a bunch of ttys available

Sorry I had multiple photos to attach but the forum says I’m restricted to 1

You can always upload them to paste.opensuse.org and post the returned URLs here.

@snow:

Are you absolutely certain that, you have sufficient disk space and, a stable network connection for the installation?

  • Your problem description is pointing to network timeouts which are possibly caused by unstable connection to your ISP and/or unstable connections from your ISP to the openSUSE servers.

You could check which openSUSE Mirror you’re using for the installation – <https://mirrors.opensuse.org/>
