Is there a way to install Autodesk Inventor on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed?

I use Autodesk Inventor a lot and I wanted to know if it is possible to install it somehow in Tumbleweed.
I tried with wine, but the system broke just as the first step was halfway through, I even had to reinstall Tumbleweed.

I’ve never been a proponent of Wine (and have never used any Autodesk apps) … it would be better to use VirtualBox with a Windows 10/11 VM, then install Inventor in that VM.

it gets very heavy, I don’t think the program would run

I doubt if it is possible to install it. Maybe find an alternative like bricscad.

Although I don’t use Inventor, I use other AutoDESK products and all the newer stuff is basically impossible to run under WINE. See https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=5719 for the official WINE compatibility for Inventor (which is listed as “GARBAGE”). This means your only real option is a virtual machine, which, for some people with enough system (CPU / RAM) have great results. Depending on the setup you can even pass through your GPU.

With that said, I can say as someone who uses AutoCAD and it’s vertical components daily I’m kinda of sensitive to the lags that virtual machines or remote desktops introduce. If you want to use it a bit here and there a VM is a great option. If this is a daily driver for production I wouldn’t consider a VM, I’d dual boot or have a second machine. That’s what I do anyway.
