Hey everyone,
I’m new to Linux (just started today) and I’m trying to install the NVIDIA RTX 5060 drivers on openSUSE Tumbleweed. I followed the instructions on SDB:NVIDIA drivers - openSUSE Wiki
zypper install openSUSE-repos-Tumbleweed-NVIDIA
zypper install-new-recommends
However, it’s not working when I try to play games like Minecraft, and I still see “llvmpipe” as the graphics processor. I’m unsure if the driver is even installed correctly or if I missed something in the process.
Here’s my system information:
Operating System : openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250818
KDE Plasma Version : 6.4.4
KDE Frameworks Version : 6.17.0
Qt Version : 6.9.1
Kernel Version : 6.16.1-1-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform : X11
Processors : AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-Core Processor
Memory : 32 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor : llvmpipe (Software Renderer)
Manufacturer : MSI
Product Name : MS-7C95
System Version : 1.0
Can anyone point out what I might have missed or help troubleshoot? I’m really eager to get my GPU working on Linux! Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Ok, you have no drivers installed at all.
To install:
sudo zypper in nvidia-open-driver-G06-signed-kmp-meta nvidia-open-driver-G06-signed-kmp-default nvidia-video-G06 nvidia-gl-G06 nvidia-compute-G06
Reboot afterwards and show us again the results of the two initial commands to confirm that the installation was succesfull.

Perfect. The drivers are installed now and working. Have fun with your box!
If you want to have graphical settings for your GPU you can additionally install the package nvidia-settings
