Internet Installation

I want to try an internet installation of the factory, since I figure that is the best way to go to not get all the programs I dont want installed with a live cd

I’ve downloaded the boot cd image, and burned it to cd

When I put it in and reboot I can never get passed

Sending DHCP request to eth0…

I have a nvidia card if that makes any difference. Is there anyway to get it get past that point?

See if your DHCP server (whatever is doing that) is functioning
properly. Also you can specify an IP address, netmask, gateway, and DNS
servers from the boot line in Grub.

http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tip/19570.html

The options specified in the menu.lst file in that article can be put on
the line directly by you and should remove the need for DHCP. You need
to know a valid IP, gateway, netmask and nameserver to use but that’s
all fairly easy to figure out and should be known anyway.

Good luck.

Hi

I’m not really sure what to do, as I don’t yet have grub installed. I am trying to install through the internet using the boot iso. So not sure how I edit that.

there is the option to update driver on the screen, but if that will work I am not sure what file I need to download for it. My computer uses Nvidia, not sure what kind, but it is only a few months old

The menu you come to with options like ‘Boot from Hard Disk’ and
‘Installation’ is GRUB on the CD. That is where you can enter those
options.

Good luck.
