I am using SUSE 11.0 and am having trouble getting my system to recognize the hardware (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection Adapter), I have installed the driver but to no avail. I am curious to know if anybody has experienced issues with this install, because I could be just making a small mistake. Thanks. =]

did you try and configure it with Yast?
If so, and if you don’t see any errors, try this please:
Open a console, become root.
touch /etc/modprobe.d/iwl3945
Edit the file and add
alias wlan0 iwl3945
options iwl3945 disable_hw_scan=1
Reboot. If it doesn’t help, delete the file please.

I had the same issue with my 3945 in both 10.3 and 11. If you’re using the KNetwork applet, it seems to be an easy (yet PITA) fix. Everytime I boot up, I have to switch my wireless radio off and on (I have a physical switch), and then disable/enable networking through that little applet. Then the adapter comes alive and I can see wireless networks. When I did it in 10.3, the YAST Network applet would only show the 3945 after I did the off/on sequence. In 11, it’ll show it, but it just doesn’t do anything until I do the off/on. As long as you have the 3945 drivers loaded (I verified this by going into the software mgr and searching for “3945” and making sure it was already checked), it should work.

The interaction between the Intel drivers and the RF switch is just
now being worked out. There won’t be any mainline improvements until
2.6.27 at the earliest.
