Installing nvidia drivers on laptop...

Heya,

I’m about to change the video drivers for my laptop from the nouveau & nouveau Gallium 7.8.2 to nvidia, using one of these guides:

SDB:NVIDIA drivers - openSUSE

Preferably the easy install. How should I go about the warning? It tells me I need to set ‘nomodeset’ in the kernel boot command line. I’ve found the file I should add it to, but how should I do it? with kwrite? I checked the file in question, using kwrite, and its empty. How will that influence adding that command line?

Best regards,

Daqar

Your guides usually makes my hair stand, but so far I don’t remember following ANY guide from you, that didn’t get me through in one piece !! :)

Thanks for the help !! I now run nvidia drivers !!

Best regards,

Daqar

You are most welcome. Enjoy openSUSE

By the way…shouldn’t I blacklist the old driver?

You followed my guide - right?
Everything is working - right?..

If you answer Yes to the above, then NO

I guess not, then…
