Installing Leap 16.0 on a Core-i3 with NVIDIA GT216 (GeForce GT 220) ends up with a graphics resolution of mere 640x480

With this graphics resolution the KDE desktop (which I always preferred in former versions of openSUSE) and other apps are unusable
(if desired I could post photos).

Booting the same PC from an USB stick with Leap 15.6 (installed using a PC without any additional graphics card), the graphics resolution is 1280x1024 !

In both cases “Info Center / Device Information / PCI” tells that the driver is “nouveau”.

For the installation on this PC with a Core-i3 530 I had to enter nomodeset to have the installation getting through with a graphics card NVIDIA GT216 (GeForce GT 220) plugged.

Now, in the grub.cfg of Leap 16.0 on that PC nomodeset appears as well.
Why?
Is that the reason?

When I boot that Leap 16.0, before I get to the login screen, the mouse cursor changes to a small size.
The login screen seems to be at higher resolution.

But after login the resolution changes again (very probably to 640x480) which can be observed by the mouse cursor getting really big again.

“System Settings” after booting 16.0 tells me, that <“640x430 (4:3)” is the only resolution supported by this display.>, which obviously just isn’t true.

Do I have a chance to change this?

After installation you need to remove nomodeset, or you will be stuck with this resolution.

That worked.

Besides, I used Leap 15.6 to edit the grub.cfg on the USB stick from which I boot Leap 16.0.

Thank you!
