Installing internal SD card reader on Panasonic laptop CF-Y2

Hi all,

I’d like to get the SD card reader running that is installed into my Panasonic CF-Y2 laptop.

I’m aware that I’m venturing into difficult territories as SD/MMC readers seem to be difficult in general under Linux, and there isn’t that much relevant information in the forums …

My questions:

(1) How do I figure out whether the card reader is recognized by the Kernel? I’ve tried lspci, but I don’t think the printout includes the SD reader (I’ve done the printout after inserting an SD card):

I’ve also tried tail /var/log/messages, but nothing happens upon inserting an SD card into the reader.

… that probably should make me suspicious???

(2) Well, if the reader is not recognized by the kernel, how do I get it to do so?

What are my next steps to get the %&$# thing running?

hi
I see nobody has responded to this thread, I have the same problem and would also like to get my sd card reader working my laptop is a MSI m645

I think the fact that nobody has responded so far demonstrates that internal SD readers are tricky under Linux.

Currently, I’m helping myself out with an external, USB SD reader.

But of course ideally I’d like to get the internal reader working; I dislike having to carry all sorts of extra equipment around with my laptop …

I found this website, I have not yet tried the steps listed maby on the weekend I will try

Using Multi-Card Flash Readers

If it works let us know.
