Installing Audacity rpm

When I try to install stable rpm of Audacity, the error says package already exists and won’t install it. Problem is the beta version 1.3.13 from the repositories is buggy (pitch shift crashes the program).

How can I get around this and install a different rpm of audacity? Or alternately, stop pitch shift from crashing the program.

Opensuse 11.4

If you are using the Packman version you should report it
PackMan :: Informationen zum Paket audacity

Audacity 1.3.12-12.1 is in 11.4’s standard Oss repo, and that’s where I installed it from.

openSUSE Factory has 1.3.13 and so does packman-multimedia repo, so did you get your 1.3.13 from one of those? How did you instal it?

I show audacity 1.3.13 on all the repositories, even OSS. I am running opensuse 11.4 (celadon)

I installed it from the packman repository and tried the other one from OSS. Both crash when I try to use pitch shift.

Look again

I’m not sure about that, because OSS doesn’t normally change after release, and I have 1.3.12 from there. What tool are you using to display the package release level?

I installed it from the packman repository and tried the other one from OSS. Both crash when I try to use pitch shift.

Ok, I will try to reproduce that with the oss version at 1.3.12 and report back here. In the meantime post back with answer to that question above.

Ah, I found the 1.3.12 in the dropdown at the bottom of the page. Thanks. I had to click on “versions” to see it though.

Ok, so 1.3.12 doesn’t open mp3’s. I’m back to the beta version, opens mp3’s fine, but still crashes using pitch shift effect.

The Packman version is packaged for the mp3’s
So, like I said, report it to Pascal

Yes I just discovered that re mp3’s and I don’t have a .wav on my notebook where 1.3.12 is. It has Effects menu > Change Pitch, but 1.3.13 should have [since 1.3.7] “High-quality “Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift” effect”.
