Installation of Skype on 64 bit machine

I have tried all the previous posts in forums related to installation of Skype but everything failed. Please tell me a method that will surely install Skype on 84_64 bit opensuse 12.3

  1. Download the Skype version for openSuse.
  2. Open a terminal in the folder where you downloaded Skype.
  3. Become root (“su” etc.)
  4. type
zypper in <name of Skype rpm that you just downloaded>

Zypper should take care of satisfying all 32-bit dependencies.

That should do it.

Follow the guidance given here for openSUSE-12.2: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Skype (it works for 12.3).

ie:

su -c 'zypper install libpulse0-32bit alsa-plugins-pulse-32bit'

After that completes, go to Download Skype on your computer - Mac, Windows, Linux - Skype and download the openSUSE RPM from the openSUSE 11+ section

Install the openSUSE RPM.

Then startup Skype, configure it, and it should work.

I have successfully followed this on two different openSUSE-12.3 PCs.
