install issues

I am new to Linux, and I just received my openSUSE DVD. I started the install on a brand new HDD that I put into my computer a couple of hours ago. I booted from the DVD, and it seemed to be working fine until I got to the actual “perform install”. The bar at the bottom of the page has been stuck at 1% for 45 minutes and it says “preparing disks”. The mouse is locked up, and the DVD is not spinning. I can’t tell if the HDD is running due to the fan noise in my box.

What should I do - keep waiting, or is there a possibility that I have done something incorrectly?

Thanks,
Lance

Reboot and try some options
look here: Installation Help - openSUSE

I think if you press F1 at the green boot screen you can read help on trying settings like ‘ACPI Disabled’ or ‘vesa’

or even this:
If the graphical boot menu doesn’t show or freezes, try press and hold Shift on the keyboard when booting the installation media. This starts the text-mode boot menu instead

I ran the check disk on the DVD and it came back saying “checksum wrong, CD-ROM Broken”
Does this mean that my new DVD that I ordered is jacked up?

Probably.
Where did the DVD come from?
