Install fails with "32-bit relocation outside of kernel!"

I’m hitting a problem early during installation from USB. It loads the kernel, probes EDD and checks OK, then says 32-bit relocation outside of kernel! followed by System Halt. At which point i have to manually reset and try again.

So far, I’ve tried Safe Settings and No ACPI in the Kernel settings, set edd=off in the boot options, and tried to run a media check, but it just goes through the same cycle: load kernel → fail with same error message.

I’m running some pretty old hardware so I imagine that’s where the issue lies. Here’s my system:

MB: ASUS Rampage III Gene (Intel X58 / ICH10R)
CPU: Xeon X5690 Westmere-EP
Memory: DDR3 24 GB non-ECC
GPU: GeForce GTX 1060
Boot Mode: Legacy BIOS (no EUFI)
BIOS: American Megatrends 1003 09/20/2011

Install media: Official Tumbleweed Snapshot 20260605 ISO on USB created with Rufus 4.14 in DD mode

I’m new to this, so pretty much completely in the dark about what to do next. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks for any suggestions.
