Infamous Host Erlangen - After 10 Years Grandpa Is Great Again

The retail components arrived on 21 February 2014. I installed openSUSE 13.1 on ext4 using a € 45,49 Kingston SV300S3 60 GB SSD. In July 2020 the system was upgraded from the small Intel Haswell i3-4130 to the AMD Ryzen 5 3400G.

Four years later I fetched the i3-4130 from the storage shelf and put it into a Fractal Design Core 2500 case. Configuration is now:

I reused all components, but replaced the Kingston SSD by a newer model:

This machine is Erlangen’s parent?
Curious, why resurrect it now?

Yep: Infamous Host erlangen

I do some assembly and maintenance work. A stock of spare parts is very helpful. Users bringing in their machine are happy with a spare one running their drives in the meantime.

That’s really going the extra mile :100:
What’s your outfit’s name? I’m nowhere near Germany but it might be useful to other people here.

Some bring their drive with Tumbleweed to have it fixed.

Users can contact me if professional support would be too expensive.
