Identify DHCP server granting lease

Hi

I have (for reasons I won’t bore you with!) two potential sources of DHCP leases on my network. What’s the simplest way to determine the IP address of the server which granted my current lease? A web search suggested searching through a file such as /var/lib/dhcp/dhclient.eth0.leases or similar but I can’t find the equivalent on my system (LEAP 42.2, KDE). Is anyone able to point me towards the location of this info?

Thanks

Fred

Hi
You can’t log into the dhcp sources and see? Else use tcpdump and pipe it through dhcpdump (zypper in dhcp-tools), then there is the arp cache…

You could also just use tcpdump and monitor for the two ip’s and see which one renews your ip address… but hopefully your going to eliminate the other one…?

tcpdump -en -i eth0 port bootps or port bootpc
tcpdump -lenx -s 1500 port bootps or port bootpc | dhcpdump

Thanks, I’ll play around with those and see where I get!
