I can't ping nodes from opensuse they can't ping me either

The results don’t change.
no matter what the subnet mask.
The setup is really not that complicated.
I had no static ip in the beginning.
This machine had a dhcp assigned address from the 10.21.30.x subnet. this network 10.41.10.x network was where I used
to vnc to the 10.21.30.x subnet from.
And that worked fine. Now I have no choice but to keep it on the 10.41.10.x subnet where I moved it. I do not know the mask to the original network. The box is staying here period. the two subnets are connected via vpn. If I don’t get a solution to this soon I plan on backing up smb.conf scrapping the os and starting over, building the machine over. As so far there is no satisfactory answer of why this is happening or how to correct it.
I cannot change the network setup just for this box because it is only a test box.>:(

… and that’s probably the issue right there. Maybe I missed it, but I don’t remember you mentioning that before. We could have saved a lot of time and effort … :\

I’m not a VPN guru, so someone else here will probably have to help you. I was under the impression that the two subnets were looking directly at each other. Just so you know, some advanced network admins deliberately set up a VPN between subnets to prevent each subnet from easily seeing one another.

I’d strongly suggest that you post another request for help. Refer back to this thread, if you like, but give all details. “We have two subnets, one on 10.41.xx.xx and the other on 10.21.xx.xx. They’re connected via VPN. I can’t ping anyone and they can’t ping me …”

Dude didn’t I just tell you that i can ping the remote subnet. just not pcs on my own subnet.
Probably gonna work on scrapping the machine now.
I really give up. the other nodes ping each other fine here. just this box which originally came from another subnet doesn’t.>:(
