Last night I installed Wine. I can’t seem to find it on my computer anywhere. I’ve checked through all the menus, right clicked on an .exe file and looked through the list of available applications to open it and used the search box on the kickoff menu.
wine is not a program you need to interact directly with (so it
doesn’t need to be in the menu), instead you just use it (like: put a
Windows program install CD in the CD caddy, and when it opens click
setup.exe), see http://en.opensuse.org/Wine for LOTS more info
I think the first time you click on an .exe you have to tell it to use wine though. So when it asks for what program to use, choose wine and then also make sure to check Remember application association for this type of file.
thank you for getting to the OP the full and correct info…
i just looked and see i do have WINE installed (surprised me) but the
fact is i don’t remember why…probably to try to help someone here
(but never got to the point of trying to install some Redmond only
software, so didn’t know what you relayed)… oh, i found
~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files and i see now i have it for IEs4Linux,
which was all script installed with no need to follow your info…)
