I upgraded to version 11.4 and now I can not install any application. Not YAST or zypper downloaded RPMs.
Firefox and Konqueror can not download links that are rpm. I do not understand what happens. Ties other than rpm, if fully discharged. I tried as root and nothing.
If someone can give me an idea of what is happening, I appreciate it.
Sorry for my English language Tarzan style.
Alright, to clarify, you have to problems:
- You cannot install downloaded *.rpms sitting on your desktop.
- Firefox cannot download *.rpms.
Correct?
I suffer from problem 1. There is a bug report, key words: 11.4 Kpackagekit redownloads *.rpms
I see this is your first post, thus welcome here.
Can you please be more specific about your problem. We like to see real computer facts here. Saying that you can not … is not enough to trigger our fantasy. Thus you do that zypper command you use and then publish it here in a post, complete with the output it generated and all between CODE tags (Posting in Code Tags - A Guide). Then we can all see what you mean.
Thanks for your interest. To answer both members.
Yes, there are 2 problems: I can not install by Kpackage, Yast, or Zypper rpms and I can not download through a browser (Firefox Konqueror). This last I discovered as a result of the first.
For global moderator: post more details when come my home.
What is really strange is that of anywhere I can download binaries, but no rpm.
Thanks again

This seems to indicate some filtering or problems with your ISP. Is there any kind of proxy involved in your Internet connection?
Thanks. My internet connection is direct, but in the past I had problems with the provider to navigate in Linux and not in windows. It could be a cause what you say.

It looks like a proxy filtering. University, corporate network… or dumb ISP.

Hello. So far I have found that in safe mode everything works perfectly. Try to know which service or application is causing the problem. With this discount the internet provider

I can not even imagine what could cause such symptoms.

Try to download a single rpm on the command line, using wget, and post the
results here, between code tags.

Thanks for your help. I understand that the problem is in the mirror (Universidad Nacional de La Plata). This mirror is automatically selected by Opensuse, I think you should change it. I do not know how to choose another.
Log file attached correspond to wget command, showing the error.
I think changing the mirror, would solve the problem.
Thanks for such valuable assistance.

I have the same problem, I can download some RPM’s but others fail, I have tried many mirrors(US Canada Germany etc etc)
When I try to download any of the timezone RPM’s (wget through my browser etc) I cannot get the file. Again other RPM’s on the same server will download.
My guess is that some ISP’s are flagging all or some RPM files and blocking them. I have no clue why they would do that.
It would be important to know that we have in common. Perhaps internet provider or something that allows us to guide the search for the solution.
I am in Argentina and my ISP is SPEEDY.
Thanks
