huge desktop? how to reset it?

probably silly newbie question…
but i’m about to give up on suse because i can’t figure this out… PLEASE help!

i don’t know what happened, honestly, i did some mouse gestures (without knowing they exist) and suddenly my desktop (K) is completely huge and I can see only a section of it. i need to move my mouse to the edges of my monitor to see the rest.

i’ve looked around here in the forum but to no avail - there is supposed to be a “reset size” function in the yellow bubble thingy in the top right corner … but there’s only zooming in and out available.

i’m at a loss, please have pity on me. thx :’(

p.s.: sorry, forgot to mention it’s a new 11.1 install.

You didn’t say if you had KDE or Gnome. I would check your resolution first - you could have it set too high. In KDE go to the start menu, click on Configure Desktop, and then click on Display at the bottom of the next window to adjust it. If it’s Gnome (and this is going by memory) you should just be able to right-click on the desktop and adjust it from there. If it’s not a resolution issue then odds are you’ve zoomed in on your desktop and you need to either disable the zoom effect or just zoom out.

chazsheen,
thank you so much for your help! sorry, i use kde.

that did it. i was stuck looking at “desktop” and hadn’t even made it to display yet.

i guess because of the zoom effect there. it seemed a good fit, but - as mentioned - it didn’t reset.

okay. i’m willing to give this all a try now.

your help is very much appreciated!
