hp pavilion 1090es unable to use intel pro 4965AGN wireless

Hello,

I have a HP pavilion dv5 1090es laptop, and a intel pro wireless 4965AGN wireless network device.

I have already installed the 4965agn driver included in the opensuse installation dvd.

However, when typing ‘hwinfo --netcard’ the system identifies my card as ‘Intel Network Controller’. ‘iwconfig’ command returns ‘no wireless extensions’

I have checked that the kernel loads iwl4965, and a ‘modinfo iwl4965’ returns a right response.

My laptop has some tactile controls that suse doesn’t recognize. The most important is the wireless one. It is always shining red(disabled), and I fear that this is the cause of my problems.

I have installed all the hotkeys & keyboards related packages that are included in the openSuse installation dvd, but without success.

Any ideas will be welcomed!

Have you tried configuring the device via YaST - network devices - network settings ? Also, have a read of the stickies in the wireless section

Andy
p.s. this would have been seen sooner if it was posted in the wireless section

Yes configured the device via Yast, but it doesn’t work, as no wireless device is detected.
If you think it’s better, i can post again in wireless section. I read the styckies there and this is the result:
