How to install network driver r8168.rpm without internet connection?

I encountered a bug that the tablet stylus did not work with qt on ubuntu, which made using ubuntu difficult for me who used a stylus instead of a mouse.

Even kdeneon is based on ubuntu’s lts, ​​so even if I wanted to use plasmadesktop, I was worried that there was only windows because a tablet stylus could not be used. Fortunately, I found opensuse.
I installed leap immediately, but there was a problem.
My motherboard seems to use the realtek r8168 driver, but it doesn’t work at all right after installation. The network card itself has not been detected.
Then I downloaded r8168.rpm to install the driver. If i try to install, yast2 and discover can not be installed because they can not be updated. This is the output from inix.

Also post:

uname -a

zypper se -si kernel

The r8169 driver is the driver in the kernel and do not need to install.

The r8168 (and the r8168-blacklist-r8169)driver is the driver build by sources of Realtek and can be used, but when the r8169 is working, no use of r8168.

The r8169 driver is the driver in the kernel and do not need to install.

However, after installing leap, the network card is not detected and the settings cannot be configured in Network Manager. Even with a cable connection, no network is found. why? =(

IMO your most likely failure cause is that your network port is disabled during installation,
I’ve found that an inactive port can cause unpredictable problems.

Is there a reason why you aren’t connected to a network?

In the past, even if I don’t have a network available, I’ve plugged a cable connected to an active hub (total cost about $6 US) into the RJ-45 port just to activate the port (green light).
Even if networking is not used during installation, it makes the network card install.

Since you’re describing a tablet,
I’m even curious how you’re installing the image on the tablet, is there a way to install off a USB port or some other external media?
From your questions, I’m assuming that you’re not writing a pre-built image to PROM.

We need the Infos from Leap 15.1, not Tumbleweed.

You can save them on a Stick and post it via Tumbleweed here.

sorry for i forgot write. exactly, leap install question for I. network option enable?
because i use dsl cable. dsl cable is settings no default. cant network access before no settings. so i think. this option? leap anyway next say. cant network access. yeayea so disable. Is that the cause?
i use usb and iso bootable usb. with gnome disk image writer…

Aside. It wasn’t just a graphics-related issue because there were many software that couldn’t be operated on a graphics tablet.
However, if ubuntu 19.10 does not come with a fix for qt 14.1, it can not be helped. It was nice to find opensuse.
There’s a lot of fun when you use a tablet instead of a mouse. for dtm. for video edit. of-cause It’s fun to draw images. =)

if Leap 15.2 uses version earlier than qt5.12.4.There is no problem with leap,
but if it becomes version of qt5.12.4, the best solution is tumbleweed because software that can not be completely operated with a tablet stylus occurs.
I’m just starting to worry about whether to use leap or tumbleweed. Sorry for posting many times.

With the recent update, tumbleweed had a kernel panic and was reinstalled again.
I’m not a linux expert, this write from opensuse is kernel version change to 5.4.14.2. use yast2 bootlooder. so I wanted to use leap, but why can’t I find the network connection found in version tumbleweet in version leap?
The browser newmoon crashes immediately. No stability.

Hmm, I have almost exactly the same NIC as you and, it’s working just fine – here the “/sbin/lspci -nnk” output for my «older - rev 06» card:

So, is the real reason for your woes, the Ethernet cable?

  • You have mentioned that, you’re using a DSL cable.
  • Have you attempted to plug the RJ45 connector of the DSL cable into the Ethernet port of your computer’s NIC?
  • Do you have a DSL Router with Ethernet ports?

the OP has a Wacom Tablet – graphics – Pen Tablet.
And, there seems to be an issue with that tablet’s driver and Qt – read KDE Plasma …

  • Which may not be an issue at all because, the issue is related to Qt version 5.12.4 – Leap 15.1 uses Qt version 5.9.7 …

i have resolve issue!! leap can visible cable connected success!
here i used this method for dissolved. for leap 15.1 after install, can’t and nothing network device.

yast2 > network settings > global option > network setup method > wickend to change network manager

ok i of course install network settings is network manager.
but maybe leap 15.1 is can’t see network access. in that case. auto change network manager to wicked.

I may have decided not to post this.Because it was troublesome.
But if anyone has a similar problem, this post may be one of the answers. or not. but I decided to post this.

Thanks for explaining the bug in qt. leap15.2 will probably be qt5.12.7.
In that case, a user who uses a tablet stylus to operate instead of a mouse would be say this.

developer say this problem has been fixed in qt14.1. Unfortunately, but tumbleweed’s kdenlive and gwenviwe are not fixed because they can not be operated.
I know that this problem is a big serious problem that most users who operate with tablet stylus in ubunu-lts20 or leap15.2, kde application, qt application. but maybe the workaround to this is xcb It was not possible on ubuntu.

In the user’s login directory, there’s a file named “.profile”.
The user has to open that file with an editor – in the case of KDE, with “KWrite” – and then, insert the new line “QT_XCB_TABLET_LEGACY_COORDINATES=1” at the end of that file and then, save the file and exit the editor; logout and then log back in again, job done!
