How to have virtual keyboards shown in application menu?

on my laptop 1=ASUS vivobook pro N552VW-FY204T (2016) with freshly installed leap 16.0 with KDE

opening myrlyn and searching “keyboad” I can see many virtual keyboard installed, for example:
kbd Installed Version 2.7.1-160000.2.2
libQt6VirtualKeyboard6 - Qt 6 VirtualKeyboard library Installed Version 6.9.1-160000.2.2
qt6-virtualkeyboard - Framework for writing or integrating input methods and engines for Qt 6 Installed Version 6.9.1-160000.2.2

but if I click on application menu and type keyboard nothing of them are shown

howcan I get a virtual keyboard shown in application menu?

Why double posting?

The installed packages are only libraries. As plasma6-keyboard is not available for Leap 16, you need to use as example maliit. But maliit also needs configuration as explained by sfalken.

sorry it is not double, the other is how to add a virtual keyboard in the widget, this is why I don’t see virtual keyboard in application menu in spite I have many of virtual keyboard installed,
reading the other post

(thai I searched in the forum but only for 16.0)
I get that the problems was related, but the plasma6-keyboard there isn’t for leap 16.0 and just now I noted that any virtual keyboard appear when I click on “virtual keyboard” in the locked screen.
what I have to do to have virtual keyboard?
sorry read now to use maliit :grinning:

P.S. sorry for the complain but is very bad that 16.0 hasn’t virtual keyboard out of the box in the locked screen and a user has to do complicated operations to have it

Did a test in a Leap 16.0 virtual machine. After installing maliit and selecting it in Systemsettings->Keyboard->Virtual keyboard, it works out of the box in the SDDM lock/login screen. No further configuration needed.

I rebooted and manythanks it works on the SDDM lock/login screen,

but I cannot find maliit in the application menu, how can I launch maliit to use it in the normal screen?

I tried with another user2 and in the lock/login screen it doesn’t work
if I change from user2 to user1 it works, but if I am in the user2 and lock screen clicking on virtual desktop doesn’t show anything
how can I have my virtual desktop working on all users??

I don‘t understand what you mean with virtual desktop in relation to virtual keyboard.

But as the virtual keyboard is a per user setting and not systemwide, you need to properly set up the virtual keyboard for all users.

I did it, I systemsettings>virtual keyboard>maliit and clicked on apply
rebooted and when I click virtual keyboard in the lock/login screen it doesn’t work
if it means something the two users has different language

Available:

IMHO you’re messing Qt Virtual Keyboard and other virtual keyboards.

Qt Virtual Keyboard is available by default for Leap 15.x and Leap 16.0 - see the bottom-left corner of the screen. You can unlock PC with it (using Plasma).

If you locked PC with Wayland session, then you cannot get Qt Virtual Keyboard on screen. In such case tab on “Change User” button and then you can get Qt Virtual Keyboard on screen.

To use Maliit install all its packages.

yes I installed maliit and all its files that automaticalli selected by myrlyn and used in user1

I tried to copy in user2/.config/kwinrc (I cannot copy in this moment the why I will open a new thread)
[Wayland] InputMethod[$e]=/usr/share/applications....
what is in user1/.config/kwinrc
[Wayland] InputMethod[$e]=/usr/share/applications
that works
but it doesn’t works

yes, if I change user I can get virtual keyboard for any user,
for the user1 I can get virtual keyboard in any case,
for user2 and user3 I have to click on change user,
how can I get virtual desktop directly for user2 instead of user1?
(sorry for complain) why I cannot get (as previously in 15.6) virtual keyboard directly in users lock page??

manythanks I switched to X11 and it works flawlessly, also some dolphin kwrite and plasma crashes disappeared
