How to enter KDE 4 session after installation

Hi there,

I have just used the 1-click install to install KDE 4 on my opensuse 11.0 machine. Now I should supposedly be able to change from a KDE 3.5 to a KDE 4 session. But this is not enabled. When I log out as the KDE 3 user and arrive at the splash screen there is no option that allows me to choose anything else than to open a KDE 3.5 session either as root or as user. No KDE 4 anywhere. What to do?

The menu should unfold when you click ‘Session Type’ (lower-left).

Yes, that’s what it says in the HowTos too. But the “Session Type” option doesn’t show on the splash screen, only the box for entering user/root and password.

Hm, I have 10.3 and as you did not tell what you exactly saw and did I hoped it would be the same in 11.0.

BTW I would have installed KDE 4 using YaST > Software > Software Management and then Patterns left-top, then check KDE4 and Accept (lower left). But it may be that the results are the same as what you did.

Hope an 11.0 / KDE4 forum member helps here.
