How to change the root password - OpenSuse 12.3 - 64bit - KDE?

Hello!

I tried to change the root password by Yast, but I could not change it.
How do I change the root password?

Thank you!

And what exactly did you try?
It should be possible in YaST->Security and Users->User and Group Management. Click on “Set Filter” (top-right) choose “System Users”, choose root from the list and click on “Edit”.

Or run Konsole, type in “su”, enter your root password, and run “passwd” to change it.

I had also tried to change the password in Konsole, but I typed “pasword” and not “passwd”. Now it’s all right.

Thank you very much!

Didn’t want to make a new thread so I figured it would be ok to ask here. How do I change my encryption password (12.3)? I chose to encrypte the hard drive during installation and I would like to modify it to make it more secure.

No, it is not ok to ask here. Proof: how many have answered yet?

The root password change procedure is different from LUKS encription
password change.

I think it is done with cryptsetup, option luksAddKey
