on my leap 15.6 running KDE with 6 virtual desktops and desktop pager widget on the panel, I would like to avoid that scrolling on the pager widget scroll the virtual desktops, I tried rightclick on desktop>configure desktop and wallpaper>mouse action and eliminated all scroll actions, there is only rightclick action
rightclick on pager>configure pager but no options about scroll
also in configure virtual desktops
how can I avoid to scroll my desktops scrolling on pager??
You are right. I had never tried that. I suppose that’s because I rarely use the pager.
To me, the description of the problem is not very clear.
“Scrolling” can be interpreted differently from one person to the next.
If you are referring to (as an example):
a) Desktop 1 is the current virtual desktop, and is displayed.
b) You point the mouse at Desktop 2 (on the Pager) to change to that virtual desktop.
When you click on Desktop 2 (on Pager), Desktop 1 appears to “slide” away and Desktop 2 slides in and appears.
If that is what you are referring to, this is the fix to disable that:
- Right click on the (virtual desktop) Pager .
- Choose Configure Virtual Desktops option
- At the Virtual Desktops pop-up menu, remove the check-mark for the “Show animation when switching” option (bottom center).
- Click Apply button.
If that is not what you are having a problem with, try this:
- Click the KDE system menu
- Go the Settings → System Settings.
- Click on Desktop Effects
- Scroll thru there and see if any option matches your issue.
I think OP is saying they want to disable the scroll wheel cycling through desktops
If that is the problem … easy to solve:
- Right-click on the desktop
- Choose Configure Desktop and Wallpaper
- Choose Mouse actions
- For the “Vertical Scroll” setting, change it to something other than “Switch Desktop” option … or remove it by clicking the minus (-) button.
No, that’s not the issue.
If you position the mouse cursor over the pager, then turning the scroll wheel does scroll through different desktops. I take it that he wants to change that. Maybe it cannot be changed.
As I mentioned in my first post, everyone interprets, in a different way, what the OP is having an issue with …
Obviously need clarification. So, until the OP explains better …
It is clearly described. And it takes zero effort to test it yourself…even if you never used KDE Plasma. Scrolling means using the mouse wheel on the pager icon.
The issue is reproducible.
As Neil hinted, there seems no setting for disabling switching of Desktops when scrolling on the pager icon.
yes, I intend this for scrolling and this is the behaviour I want to get rid of
yes, this, and in the link you give there is only “You can switch between the virtual desktops by clicking onto the previews” and nothing on scrolling
I also checked and can not find the option to disable scrolling on the pager widget thing. I suggest making a request either on the KDE forums or github
manythanks, I did a whish request on kde.bugs
