Hi on my laptop using KDE with six virtual desktops, when I open firefox it opens one window in the desktop where I was when I clicked on firefox icon and the others 4 in desktop n°5, I checked in >rightclick on bar>more actions>configure special windows settings… it opens edit windows-specific settings-kwin but no settings are present for any of the windows and the same >rightclick on bar>more actions>configure special applications settings… it opens Edit application-specific settings-kwin but no settings are present.
how can I avoid that firefox remember the desktop °5???
Assuming that, you’re always wanting to resume with the previous (Firefox) session, what happens with a different number of KDE Plasma Virtual Desktops?
- Do the other Firefox Windows then appear on Virtual Desktop number <N - 1> ?
hi, if I decrease the virtual desktops to 4 and open for the first time firefox in desktopn°2 it opens all the windows in desktop n°2, then I close firefox and move to desktop n°1 and open it, it opens one window in desktop n°1 and the other in n°2, the same if I open firefox in desktop n°3 and 4
if I increase the desktops to 8 the behaviour is the same, firefox remember the desktop n°2, where I open it the first time as where it opens the rest of windows
Seems to be a Mozilla Firefox feature – as in “not a bug” …
- I browsed “about:config
” for anything related to Tab-behaviour which could be related to this issue – found nothing …
You may have to submit a Change Request to Mozilla’s Bug-Reporting system …
There is a +(plus sign) under the highligted in red qouted above post that’s where the one you are looking for.
yes, but I don’t want to add a rule, I want to delete a phantom rule that isn’t there, there are no rules active, nor there nor in application, nor in firefox…
I might not understand it exactly. What is the phantom rule?
In my understanding, you can add a rule listed when you click the plus sign then configure it according to what you want.
Sorry I am not using kde I am using xfce with kwin and I have only two workspaces so I can’t test it, though since I am using kwin
I can see and do the more actions in firefox.
What happens if you create a new Firefox profile and set it as default?
Another thing to try is running firefox from a terminal: firefox --no-remote
it happen the same and this is the output:
pla@pla4-TW:~> firefox --no-remote

for phantom rule I intend the rule that force firefox to remember the virtual desktop, phantom becouse it exist somewhere but isn’t visible in
>rightclick on bar>more actions>configure special windows settings… it opens edit windows-specific settings-kwin but no settings are present for any of the windows and the same >rightclick on bar>more actions>configure special applications settings… it opens Edit application-specific settings-kwin but no settings are present.
yes, and it works if the rule you want exist, if I want to force to open firefox in the desktop 2 it works, but I want that firefox doesn’t remember the desktop where it was open before, and in this case, where it has been opened for the first time, and this rule isn’t present in the settings
…I will try in other environment
created a new profile:
make it default profile, set it to restore previous session, opened three windows, closed and reopened, the behaviour is the same, somewhere it writes where I opened it the first time and remmber it, in this case firefox remember the desktop 2 where I opened it the first time with this profile and opens one window in the desktop where I click firefox icon and the other two in desktop 2
the other profile it remember desktop 5
