How properly delete files in Opera Browser's cache folder?

How do I delete the files in “~/.opera/cache4/temporary_download/”?

I’ve tried “preferences…->Advanced->History->Empty Cache” but the files are still there.

I’ve tried “tools->Delete Private Data” and checked every box, but the files are still there!

I could just delete them from a Konsole but I’m afraid of screwing up Opera as I have no idea if it stores any essential things there or has a DB that needs to be updated.

Any ideas?

Tools > Delete Private Data doesn’t get rid of them?

Nope. It did remove a lot of settings but all the files are still there.

Go to Tools > Delete Private Data
then select detailed options
check all the boxes you want to delete

If you do like caf4926 says I believe it should get rid of all you select. To verify go to Help > About Opera. It will give you the path to the Cache and whatever else you want to look at. Unhide your files and verify that what you want deleted is gone. I am curious now why your files aren’t getting deleted.

I apologize if this sounds rude but, did you read my post? I wrote:

This is a known bug in Opera, files in temporary download folder are not deleted by clearing cache.

You can delete the files manually, it won’t cause any problems.

Thanks. Can I delete everything in “cache4” or just in tmeporary_downloads?
