I have a dualboot Ubuntu and WinXP and want to replace XP (wich I never used) with Open Suse.
On install I get as an option to delete SDA4 where my Ubuntu is located, even when I choose to delete sda2 (windows).
Deleting sda4 is no option.
How can I install Open suse on sda2 (where grub is) and leave sda4 intact.
(sda1=dell, sda2=boot/XP-20Gb, sda3=swap, sda4=ubuntu)

Choose custom partitioning / create partition set-up.
Mount sda2 as /, and sda3 as swap.
When it gets to the summary screen (the one detailing each section), choose the bootloader section and check carefully that it’s doing what you want - by the sound of things, if sda1 is a recovery partition or something, you might well not want grub on the MBR. I don’t know, but I’d try putting grub only on sda2 and seeing if that boots first. It should find Ubuntu on its own, and have a Ubuntu option in its boot menu.

Grub kan helemaal niet op sda2 staan als Windows daar ook op staat. Grub zit deels in je MBR en deels in je huidige Ubuntu.
Je kunt Suus dus gewoon op sda2 knallen. Let wel op gedonder met UUID’s: probeer ervoor te zorgen dat Suus tijdens de installatie geen nieuwe UUID’s gaat lopen uitdelen, want anders wordt de swap-partitie onbereikbaar voor Ubuntu.
