Personally, I typically use suPHP - but I believe the above should help point you in the right direction.

Hi there,
I typically have used suPHP on RH / CentOS systems (that’s just what has been used most where I have worked), though honestly it should be very similar on Suse. I wrote a guide, which encompasses suPHP which can be found at: Apache Security - Lyceum
You should be able to adapt that to OpenSuse without too much trouble.
