/home and an extended partition

wouldn’t ya just know it, Bill_L lost again.

**Device****Boot**** Start**** End**** Sectors**** Size****Id****Type**
/dev/sda1 2048 16779263 16777216 8G 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda2 * 16779264 100665343 83886080 40G 83 Linux
/dev/sda3 100665344 226494463 125829120 60G 83 Linux
/dev/sda4 226494464 312581807 86087344 41.1G f W95 Ext'd (LBA) **<<<<<< this to merge with /dev/sda3 which is my /home**

Can this be done easily and without fubaring the /home data?

No other OS’s are on /dev/sda

I can get a screenshot from gparted if needed.

By appearances, you shouldn’t have a problem.
I assume that you want to wipe the extended partition (sda4)

You will
Delete the partition sda4
Extend sda3 to fill the adjacent space (can be all the space)

gparted can do all that for you in a semi-automated way.

Because this is not your / partition, you should be able to do this without rebooting.

Of course, backup or copy your important data to another disk or location in case everything goes bad.
