HDMI issues

This probably isn’t even opensuse related but as it happened a few days after the installation maybe it’s the key here.

A few days ago I installed opensuse and had it dual boot with windows. Now it was working fine this morning but then it suddenly stopped displaying anything from the boot screen/windows. It just detects nothing until opensuse loads and even then it’s at the wrong resolution. When opensuse loads i can see something saying that the hdmi detects the monitor but not something else (I do not understand any of the messages you get before opensuse properly boots up). I tried changing my hdmi cable but the same problems still arise. I can’t really say much more as it’s pretty hard to see what’s going on until opensuse loads (And annoyingly enough i don’t know the exact model of the TV), but my Wii U goes on at perfect resolution but lacks sound. Why does Boot screen/Windows, opensuse and my wii u all have different problems all relating to hdmi and why did the issue come straight out of the blue?

Even if you might think it is possibly not openSUSE related, you seem to use some openSUSE with this HDMI device. Thus it is always of interest to know which version of openSUSE.

I’m guessing that you are NOT seeing the grub boot menu?? Is this correct?? This sounds like it is a return from hibernate. (we ringing any bells yet?)

try removing the file /boot/grub2/grubenv

Or the grub screen and/or plymouth is not at the right resolution, freq?

It is a bit hard to guess without more info or a look at you log file.
