HDMI - aplay -D hw:1,7 piano2.wav Works - now how to configure?

NVIDIA Corporation GM206 [GeForce GTX 960] (rev a1) with own audio on NVIDIA Corporation Device 0fba (rev a1) the kernel is using snd_hda_intel.Audio/Video travel on the same HDMI cable to a Samsung TV recognised by opernSUSE as Samsung HDMI monitor.

I guess my question is: how do I tell snd_hda_intel to use hw:1,7?

If that’s not the correct question I’m sure some kind soul will directly me correctly.

I have added it manually to the pulse audio config file , but that just adds another useless HDMI device to my listed playback devices. Doesn’t get me sound, why I don’t know, as it works with aplay??

OK, Think I’ve Identified the problem, pulseaudio is reporting HDMI/DisplayPort (unplugged). Which can’t be true as I would not be able to see what I’m typing at the moment.:frowning: Should I using a proprietary driver for my graphics card?
