hd:/Invalid Signature Installation Aborted- BIOS Date is Fine

I haven’t used linux in years and I’m about to try it again with my newly purchased, used, t430s thinkpad, with no OS currently installed in it.

I downloaded the .iso and put it on a USB. When I run the installation I get stuck at the blue screen with a red menu and yellow text reading…
hd:/Invalid Signature Installation Aborted-

I googled and this issue has come up a bunch, only it was solved by changing the BIOS date back to the correct date. My BIOS date is the correct date, yet I’m still having this issue.

I downloaded 2 version of the .iso last night. So once one didn’t work, I tried the other one on my usb drive. I’m getting the same issue.

I’m currently downloading mint, for I’m so eager to try my new computer I can’t let this stop me. I’d really rather try OpenSuse, but this is my struggle.

PEACE

I finnally figured out how to compare the hash codes and it turns out both of my .iso that I downloaded did not match with the sha256 checksum. Both downloads were faulty, that’s some bad luck. I’m assuming that was my problem.

THANKS

Yep

did you downloading 32 bit Windows ie browser?

I downloaded via firefox on a 64 bit computer.

Because opensuse wasn’t working I downloaded linux mint. I put it on a usb and then it also wouldn’t work, showing a different issue. I then put it in a different usb port and it seems to be working now. I wonder if that was why opensuse was giving me troubles…

I ended up having an issue with mint, where it wouldn’t go to the install, but instead the login screen for mint live, but the generic login “mint” would not work. I ended up reading that some usbs have a hidden NTSF and it can cause this error. So I tried with a different USB and now the installation is in progress. So perhaps my issue with OpenSuse was the USB. I will probably partition my harddrive and try out opensuse after I get mint set up.

Thanks. Hopefully this helps someone one day.

USB3 can be a problem USB2 ports just work
