Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-T

I am having problems getting this device to work on OpenSUSE 11.0

Link: Hauppauge Computer Works Ltd : WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick

I have included various outputs below:

dmesg | grep usb
dvb-usb: found a ‘Hauppauge Nova-T Stick’ in warm state.
dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer.
input: IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb2/2-3/input/input9
dvb-usb: schedule remote query interval to 150 msecs.
dvb-usb: Hauppauge Nova-T Stick successfully initialized and connected.
usbcore: registered new interface driver dvb_usb_dib0700

This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.25.18-0.2-default)

v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway

I visited a few sites and found that I needed to download firmware. I have used dvb_usb_dib0700, but it is not entirely clear to me if this correct.

Would be grateful if anyone has any ideas how to get this baby to work. There is not much info. Should have bought a PenguinTV device rather than a WinTV! rotfl!

xawtv v3.95 is for analog only; you want an app that handles dvb-t

suggest you head to linuxtv.org and read up in the dvb wiki for

  • specifics to your device
  • getting started with digital
  • and apps you can use

Hi,

Thanks for the help. I did as you suggested and followed the instructions on linuxtv.org

The Links I used:
Main Page - LinuxTVWiki
LinuxTV dvb-apps - LinuxTVWiki
Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick - LinuxTVWiki

For OpenSUSE 11.0 I found that kernel-source was required as well as kernel headers (this was not documented on the site).

When trying to build V4L there was an error in ov772x.c which cause the build to stop. I managed to remove this from the OBJ dependancies in the the Makefile.

Installed “MeTV” and have successfully scanned and viewed some channels.

Thanks again.
