Hanging at the three dots ...

Hi,

after my system was working fine for weeks it now hangs at the point where the green square with the three dots below is showing, i.e. just before the graphical login should normally appear.
I can login as root at the text console ((ctrl+alt+F1) and shut down from there, but I want ordinary users to be able to shut down. This is why I desperately look for repair of my graphical login. There is a button where ordinary users can shutdown.

My suspicion is that the error has to do with my ssh use of the PC.
I used to run graphical apps through ssh -X ipnumber and maybe I did not finish these sessions correctly.
I can still login from a remote machine and run graphical apps.

What can I do?

Best regards
jb

Is this helpful, maybe?

systemctl -l status display-manager.service

Manged to solve this: After a reinstall of the display manager everything was OK again
